Neighbourhood Café
A new coffee shop opening in the neighbourhood wanted to create a warm, inclusive identity that welcomes both coffee connoisseurs and curious newcomers. The concept needed to balance craftsmanship with comfort, creating a brand that feels both local and refined. The café also offers coffee workshops, so the design had to reflect creativity, learning, and connection in an inviting and authentic way.
- Research & Discovery
We began by exploring the sensory and emotional experience of a neighbourhood café — the aroma of coffee beans, the texture of ceramics, the sound of quiet conversations. The client’s vision was to create a space that encourages community and curiosity.
To reflect that, we drew inspiration from natural materials and earthy tones, emphasizing approachability and familiarity. The design direction evolved from the textures and colors found in coffee, wood, and stone, connecting the brand to its physical environment.
- Concept Development
The visual identity combines Galada, a handwritten, relaxed script that adds warmth and personality, with Myanmar Sans Pro, a clear and balanced typeface ideal for menus and signage.
This pairing creates a dialogue between craft and clarity — Galada expresses the café’s welcoming character, while Myanmar Sans Pro ensures legibility and professionalism for educational and retail applications.
- Colour System
The colour palette was developed from the café’s natural surroundings and material finishes:
- Primary Colours:
- Marble Grey (#8C8B8B) – calm and neutral, inspired by the tabletop
- Coffee Brown-Grey (#58534D) – grounding and strong
- Clay Beige (#928882) – warm and organic
- Secondary Colours:
- Olive Green (#6B7755) – natural and balanced
- Cool Slate Blue (#4A6176) – modern and calming
- Persimmon Orange (#DC6029) – vibrant and energetic
Together, these tones create a relaxed yet sophisticated palette that communicates warmth, balance, and authenticity.
- Application & Outcome
The identity was applied across signage, menus, packaging, and digital materials, ensuring consistency and versatility.
The combination of soft neutrals and vibrant accents creates a warm, contemporary look that reflects both the café’s cozy atmosphere and its role as a space for learning. Every touchpoint, from the latte cup to the workshop flyer, reinforces the brand’s approachable and community-centered spirit.
