For this project, I designed a comprehensive catalog for a Chicago-based Youth Empowerment organization that uplifts young people through creative expression and community engagement. The organization also extends its support to youth in Brazil and South Africa, making cross-cultural representation a central focus of the design.

Design Approach

My process began with in-depth discovery, aligning closely with the organization’s mission to spotlight youth voices through events, art, and talent. I developed a vibrant visual language that blends bold typography, authentic photography, and cultural motifs drawn from Chicago, Brazil, and South Africa. Each element was intentionally crafted to reflect the energy, diversity, and resilience of the youth involved.

Problem Solving

One of the key challenges was unifying multiple narratives from different continents into a cohesive, emotionally resonant catalog. I approached this by establishing a modular layout system that allows for flexibility while maintaining consistency. I also applied visual strategies such as color harmony, duotone treatments, and graphic overlays to ensure cohesiveness across varied photographic assets.

Output

The final deliverables included a print-ready catalog, an optimized digital PDF, and a set of promotional assets for social media. The design serves both as a documentation of impact and a powerful advocacy tool for future programming and funding.

This project embodies my passion for purpose-driven design, where storytelling, community, and creativity come together to inspire transformation.
